It may not be the most original idea ever, but the execution of the book makes up for that and more. On a whole, this was a feel-good book, with slight humor. It wasn't exactly a fast-paced thrill-a-minute book, but somehow you could still sit and read it without it being forced. Flipped made it so that you could see things vicariously through Juli(anna) AND Bryce, instead of just being stuck in one P.O.V. A rich journey full of inspiring and satisfying moments, this book will set the bar high for all others.

This is a classic romantic comedy of errors told in alternating chapters by two fresh, funny voices. Wendelin Van Draanen is at her best here with a knockout cast of quirky characters and a hilarious series of misunderstandings and missed opportunities. But underlying the humor are two teens in transition. They are each learning to look beyond the surface of people, both figuring out who they are, who they want to be, and who they want to be with.

Addison Jones Ms. Cook Writing 4 - 3 May 11, 2022 Flipping Upside Down I recommend the book Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. The genre of this book is young adult fiction and romance. The book takes place in Mayfield, Kentucky in the late 20th century. The main characters are Juli Baker and Bryce Loski. Bryce moves across from Juli when the two of them were young. Juli develops a huge crush on Bryce and becomes obsessed with him for years. Bryce starts distancing himself from Juli And she starts to lose feelings for Bryce. Bryce notices Juli becoming distant and fights for their friendship. Topics that were addressed were family, friendship, relationships, and love. In my opinion, I love this book because Juli and Bryce experience many different things and go through many of the same things that teenagers are going through right now. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to read young adult fiction. My star rating for this book would be a 4 out of 5.
This book is from the perspective of both a girl and a boy; hence the title. The girl, Juli, meets the guy, Bryce, two weeks before the start of second grade and she thinks she fell in love. Bryce thinks that her persistence is annoying and he is very cold to her. This continues for six years but Bryce’s feelings change toward her. Unfortunately, he upsets her very much on three separate occasions. If you want to know if they end up together, you should read the book! This book shows how people can change. Since you can see the perspectives of both characters, you can see all the misunderstandings between them, and honestly, it drove me crazy IN A GOOD WAY. Regretfully, there isn’t a Flipped #2, but there is a movie? And I watched it and it wasn’t really that bad? It is on Netfix…and on Amazon Prime if you pay…but read the book first.
this book is absoultely adorable! its funny and cute, and very memorable. i remember when i first read it in third grade, i was obsessed with it. i don't think i will ever get tired of reading this book.
I just found it in our schools bookshelf, and it didn't look bad so i tried it. It is really good, if you like comedy, and a bit of romance. Not deep romance, just crush level. I totally reccomend.
first time rereading the book since fourth grade. it was such a sweet book, i loved it. reminds me of what its like to be young and not worry about anything.
