This special edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone has a gorgeous new cover illustration by Kazu Kibuishi. Inside is the full text of the original novel, with decorations by Mary GrandPré.

Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility.

All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley — a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry’s room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn’t had a birthday party in eleven years.

But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry — and anyone who reads about him — will find unforgettable.

For it’s there that he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic in everything from classes to meals, but a great destiny that’s been waiting for him… if Harry can survive the encounter.

One of my favourite books is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling. It is a story about Harry Potter, an orphan brought up by his aunt and uncle because his parents were killed when he was a baby. Harry is unloved by his uncle and aunt but everything changes when he is invited to join Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and he finds out he's a wizard. At Hogwarts Harry realises he's special and his adventures begin when he and his new friends Ron and Hermione attempt to unravel the mystery of the Philosopher's Stone. I can read this book over and over again. From the very beginning until the end J.K. Rowling has me gripped! There is never a dull moment, whether it's battling with trolls, a three-headed dog, or Harry facing Lord Voldermort. I would definitely recommend this book because it keeps you reading without ever wanting to put the book down. By the end of the book you come to love the characters and you want to read more. You won't be disappointed because the second book in the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is just as great! If you haven't read any of the Harry Potter books you are missing out on the best series ever!

Excellent Series. High recommended both the movie and the book

Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone tells the story of a boy who lives with is evil uncle, aunt, and cousin. And he has not had a birthday party in 11 years! But that all changes when he gets an invitation to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. He meets new friends along the way, like the smart one named Hermione and Ron who is just well there. He also meets some unusual things like an invisible from his dead father, a mirror of erased, and even sees and fights a giant! But the most mysterious thing is the sorcerers stone. It was hard for Harry's first year in Hogwarts but he managed. If you like a book about magic, adventure, comedy, and friendship this is a perfect series just for you.

I just watched the movies so now I'm reading all the books and so far, the movies are very accurate.

I decided to read this because my friend (Caitlin) is a mega harry potter fan and she kept talking about Harry Potter and I had no idea what she was talking about so I started reading this book and I guess my 'potterheadness' all started from there... Reviewed by Slytherin4Life
