The book is fine for for a fifth grader, it will make them think and not skim over words.
What I thought of it: Well I really wasn't expecting it to be that great. And I was right. It wasn't extremely interesting. Also, her dad seemed unrealistically insensitive. I mean if he knows his daughter is sick, then he should understand why she behaves the way she does, and not have unrealistic expectations for her. Not to mention the fact that he had anger issues. Overall, it was disappointing.

This book is a quite sad story about a dog and her favorite friend Rose. She has autism. She will go through life changing experiences just to find her dog after the tragic hurricane.

"Rain Reign" is a sad but moving story. Ann M. Martin, the author is one of my favorite writers and all of her books are amazing. This one definitely didn't disappoint. Meet Rose Howard, a fifth-grader who is obsessed with homonyms, rules, and prime numbers. She lives in a small town with just her father and uncle, and suffers from sever autism. Due to her inability to interact well with other humans, her best friends is her dog, Rain, who her father found at the back of his pub one night. They live a quiet, content life, until a Hurricane Susan hits leaving total destruction in it's wake. Worst yet, Rain, her longtime companion is missing. But the hunt the finding her dog might lead to much more. The books starts out slow because the first part is mostly just background information, but after the hurricane hits it gets exciting so just stick with it. I have to admit the main character was a little annoying at first but she grows on you. Overall, it is a sweet story like "Out of my Mind" or "Wonder" that will leave you in tears.
"Rain Reign" is about a homonym-crazed fifth grader named Rose Howard. Rose lives in the tiny town of Hatford with her mechanic father, and hangs out with her uncle often. Though she doesn't have much, her most prized possession is her dog, Rain. She was a stray found by Rose's father one day and the family decided to keep her because she didn't have identification. Overall, this book was decent. I didn't like it so much because I thought the main character was a bit annoying with homonyms left and right (write), sprinkled in the book just like i just displayed. There are few mature themes involved in the story because the protagonist is an innocent, naive young girl, but there are mentions of drinking. i would recommend this book to kids in elementary school or early middle-schoolers.
I loved this book so so so so so so so so so so much!!!!!! It is a great realistic fiction story! It is about a girl named Rose who loves homophones. Even her name has a homophone. But when her dog named Rain gets lost in a hurricane called Hurricane Susan ( her dog also has a homophone in her name ), she is super sad. Through her search for Rain, Rose figures out a lot of things that have happened in the past to both her, and her dad. I think the message in this story is ''Treat Other People The Way You Want To Be Treated''. In this story my favorite character is Rose because she thinks more about other people than herself. In this story my favorite part was when Rose and her dad said sorry to each another. I think this story was written more for girls than boys because there are girl issues in it. I hope you like it!!!!!!!!!!
This story is a MUST READ if you like any sweet stories or if you enjoyed Wonder. It's kind of similar to Wonder... but at the same time it isn't. This is such a witty, calm read. I really enjoyed it, and it just melts your heart when you read this story. It starts off with the "main character" Rose, and she enjoys and is obsessed with homonyms. Rose has a special syndrome, which makes her act like how she is: ALWAYS following the rules, and having a homonym list. One day Rose's father finds a dog, and Rose named it Rain, because they found it in the rain, and because the word rain has homonyms. Later on, when they heard about Hurricane Susan is going to visit, they start getting busy, and preparing. But that night Rain's father, Wesley, let Rain go outside to do her business. But now Rain is missing? Will Rose be able to find Rain, with her Uncle Weldon? Will there be more problems adding up with this story? It's up to you to READ and FIND OUT... you won't regret it, READ IT!!!!!
