I loved this book. To put it simply it's about a boy named Rump who is bullied because of his name. Soon after, he goes on an awesome adventure. I find it a wonderful re-telling of the original Rumplestiltskin fairy tale.

In a magic kingdom where your name is your destiny, 12-year-old Rump is the butt of everyone's joke. But when he finds an old spinning wheel, his luck seems to change. Rump discovers he has a gift for spinning straw into gold. His best friend, Red Riding Hood, warns him that magic is dangerous, and she’s right. With each thread he spins, he weaves himself deeper into a curse.
To break the spell, Rump must go on a perilous quest, fighting off pixies, trolls, poison apples, and a wickedly foolish queen. The odds are against him, but with courage and friendship—and a cheeky sense of humor—he just might triumph in the end.
A Texas Bluebonnet finalist and winner of the ILA award for middle grade fiction, Rump is perfect for fans of Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted or Adam Gidwitz's A Tale Dark and Grimm. And don't miss Liesl Shurtliff's other fairy tale retellings: Jack: The True Story of Jack and the Beanstalk and Red: The True Story of Red Riding Hood.
"A fresh riff on the Grimm Brothers' Rumpelstiltskin, told with wit from the impish point of view of the troublemaker himself." —People
"Lighthearted and inventive, Rump amusingly expands a classic tale." —Brandon Mull, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Fablehaven.

This book is about a boy named Rump. Where he comes from, it's all about "your name is your destiny". Rump is bullied because of the meaning of his name (butt). Join Rump on his adventure to find his destiny.
I love Rump. It is a very inspiring story. I love how he feels worthless like we do sometimes but he then finds that he is unique and amazing. names are powerful, we are powerful. destiny may be strong but we will always be stronger.
This story caught my eye as I was bought up around fairytales. I loved fairytales when i was younger but most of them are two young for me, so I am so happy that a older fairytale has been created !!!!!
I am on the part where the pixies keep attacking Rump and its been really good till there I am looking forward for this book, one thing I like about this is that it shows one amazing fairy tale in a different perspective and its really fun to think of something classic in a another way.
Rump is a really good story about Rumpelstiltskin. Rump's mother died almost as soon as she gave birth to him. She got through the word Rump, so that's the name that Rump has. Rump finds his mother's old spinning wheel and despite the warnings that his grandma and friend Red gives him, he continues to spin straw into gold. A curse was bestowed. Rump goes on a quest to break the curse and find out what his real name is.
I loved this book so much! Liesl Shurtliff actually came to my school (no joke) and she told us the inspiration for her story. Rump is an amazing tale about Rumpelstiltskin. Poor Rump gets made fun of because his name is another name for butt. He has to work in the gold mines to provide food for him and his grandma (she's old and sick). Rump goes on an amazing adventure to learn more about himself, and makes a ton of new friends on the way.
I love this book. My older sister read it to me at night and I liked it a lot. He could spin gold. I have "Red" and I am almost done it, I like it so far
Have you ever wondered about HIS side of the story? Who was Rumplestiltskin? Maybe he was a goblin, or maybe he was just a scared little orphan boy who had a gift... A great read!
I don't really like Rumpelstiltskin but this book is pretty good.
