Miri lives on a mountain where, for generations, her ancestors have quarried stone and lived a simple life. Then word comes that the king's priests have divined her small village the home of the future princess. In a year's time, the prince himself will come and choose his bride from among the girls of the village. The king's ministers set up an academy on the mountain, and every teenage girl must attend and learn how to become a princess.
Miri soon finds herself confronted with a harsh academy mistress, bitter competition among the girls, and her own conflicting desires to be chosen and win the heart of her childhood best friend. But when bandits seek out the academy to kidnap the future princess, Miri must rally the girls together and use a power unique to the mountain dwellers to save herself and her classmates.

This book is fairly good. The tale about a country girl turning into something bigger has been played out again and again. But, this also has that twist most young readers, as myself, love. It brought tears to my eyes and had me laughing. This book, and it's sequel as well, are definitely great for young girls.

This book was not so great. I didn't like all the princess part but the thing I liked was it was kind of adventurous. This story is ok.

It was great!!!! I read it a few years ago, but still love it!! I really liked how it is totally un-predictable. I would totally read it again.

Princess Academy by Shannon Hale is a great book about a group of girls all competing to become princess. The country's priests have divined that the main character's (Miri) town is the home of the next princess. Miri lives in a small town known for its linder (a marble like material) and the focus of town is on mining not, education. So a Princess Academy is set up so that all the potential princesses can learn the proper rules of society. I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of 'The Selection' but for a younger audience. The book is not a romance (a great break from my current reading list) but has more of a girl power vibe to it. The main plot of the book is quarry-speaking, a way of communicating without talking aloud. Kind of like ESP. Anyway, awesome, short (275ish page) read!

This is such a good book. It even has a sequel. It's about this village girl, who gets sent to the Princess academy where she learns to become a princess along with several other girls. The most princess like and the one the prince likes, is then chosen to become the prince's bride.

Miri, a mountain girl, must attend a "Princess Academy" to prepare for the visiting prince while her village struggles to survive back at home. Book one in a trilogy, Princess Academy does not disappoint. Shannon Hale is one of my absolute favorite authors and you should read all of her books.

Even though I don't like princesses it sounds very interesting. I think it's some sort of academy for princesses. I think it's going to be a good book because it has won a medal.

This book is about a young girl named Miri who goes to an academy to practice being a princess, with the goal of marrying the prince. I really liked when the prince chose Miri's friend, Britta, to be his bride.

This book is really seriously a great one!! I love how there is so much to the story and how you never want to put it down!!!
