It's a perfect world, where everything looks right. But ugly truths lie beneath…
Imagine a world without poverty, war or pain. A world where everything is comfortable and familiar - a world where everything is the same. No colour, no music. In such a world, Jonas is selected to be the next Receiver of Memory and is apprenticed to the Giver, an old man who stores memories from the Community’s past. As Jonas learns about violence and sadness, as well as beauty and joy, he discover the sinister truth behind his safe existence.
Simply and beautifully written, The Giver is a thought-provoking look at utopian society. It was awarded the Newbery Medal in 1994.

This is a great book! It was so touching, yet so strange at the same time. However, I would NOT recommend this book to sensitive readers, because some moments can be very dark.
To be honest, I didnt really love this book, It didnt really make sense to me. But I would recommend it for the high level reader!
This was a really great book. Parts of it did seem a little rushed, though, like when it skipped a few months, but other than that it was a wonderful book. You could see everything so clearly, I didnt even realize it was a world with no color. I have been reading a ton of great books lately, so I wouldn't say it's the best book I've read in a while, but it's one of the best books I've ever read.
I like the book more than the movie
It is really interesting
My Teacher is reading this book to us, so far, its a good book
I had this for my reading assignment at school. It was OK. Still made no sense. But all I care is that I got an A.
It is really interesting story.. I'm reading this story with my class. Atour of this book wrote this story for us to read and understand it in our own way..
The Giver was awesome and I would recommend it to any teenagers. It's very unique and futuristic as everyone has to go by rules that today's society would say as bad and not free.
<3 exactly 😀
