With over one million copies sold, this series of modern classics about the charming Penderwick family from National Book Award winner and New York Times bestseller Jeanne Birdsall is perfect for fans of Noel Streatfeild and Edward Eager.

This summer the Penderwick sisters have a wonderful surprise: a holiday on the grounds of a beautiful estate called Arundel. Soon they are busy discovering the summertime magic of Arundel’s sprawling gardens, treasure-filled attic, tame rabbits, and the cook who makes the best gingerbread in Massachusetts. But the best discovery of all is Jeffrey Tifton, son of Arundel’s owner, who quickly proves to be the perfect companion for their adventures.

The icy-hearted Mrs. Tifton is not as pleased with the Penderwicks as Jeffrey is, though, and warns the new friends to stay out of trouble. Which, of course, they will—won’t they? One thing’s for sure: it will be a summer the Penderwicks will never forget.

Deliciously nostalgic and quaintly witty, this is a story as breezy and carefree as a summer day.

I recommend this book for all readers who enjoy funny, sad and exciting books. The Penderwick sisters are always full of adventure. They come to this beautiful mansion with a huge garden and the first thing they want to do is explore. With four girls running around the mansion grounds it makes the book a little crazy. In the end they met a few new friends. Overall this book was pretty amazing with two rabbits, four sisters, and an interesting boy.

The Penderwicks is an interesting book. It's about how four sisters are spending their summer vacation in a beautiful place called Arundel. Then they meet the son of Arundel's owner, Jeffrey. But his mother is not pleased with the Penderwick sisters playing with her son, and warns them to stay away from him. When they find out that she wants to send him to a military school, they are determined to help Jeffrey prevent this nightmare from coming true. It's really fun and exciting, and I like it a lot.

THis book was ok

I love how Rosalind is like the mom, it makes her even more cute! and how skye is kool and adventurous...she is my favret character. Jane...well i like how she likes to write storys, but i always thought she was a litle crazy, anyway she is still one of my favorite charaters. But Batty, she's just strate on cute! she is just adorabl! and so curious, but she can be very shy. and mrs. Tifton son is awesome! but she's not till the end. ;)

good book with a heart felt meaning as well as a cute family. this is another page turner and another book that i would read again.

It's finally summer for the four Penderwick sisters Rosalind, Skye, Jane and Batty(oldest to youngest). The for girls go on a 3 week trip to an estate called Arundel. The sisters are surprised because they usually go to a cottage. There they meet Jeffery Tifton and his strict mother. The sisters befriend Jeefery but his mother doesn't like them. It is a book full of friends, fun and summer adventures. about the characters: Rosalind is the oldest Penderwick sister who is very responsible and practical, Skye is second to oldest feisty and stubborn, then there is Jane who loves reading and writing, the youngest is Batty who is super shy and won't go anywhere without her butterfly wings, Mr.penderwick is the only parent living with the sisters (mother died of cancer) and is a botanist, Jeffery Tifton is a kind buy who plays instruments, Mrs.Tifton is Jeffery's strict mother, and last but not least hound, the penderwick's trusty and loyal dog. I loved this book so much i really recommend it.

I love, love this book! It was so good. It is very interesting and I thought it was great! Only one bad this, it had too many girls in it.

Such a family fun adventure. The four sisters remind me of my best friends who act like my sisters. I recommend this book to all ages that can read. I am in 9th grade and I read it for fun. Such a good book!!!
